  • How do dental veneers work?

Dental veneers are thin shells applied to the front surfaces of your teeth. We begin by taking a detailed impression of your teeth to create custom veneers that fit perfectly over your natural teeth and then remove a small layer of enamel to create a perfect bonding surface for the veneer. Once prepared, the veneers–essentially very thin layers of durable material– are permanently bonded to your teeth to hide flaws and imperfections.

Once placed, veneers can cover noticeable flaws and adjust alignment or spacing. They are easy to apply, requiring tooth preparation and a strong dental adhesive to secure them in place.

  • What types of dental veneers are available?

There are two main types of dental veneers: porcelain veneers and composite veneers. Both of these options can help you improve your smile.

Composite veneers are made in the dentist’s office using tooth-colored resin. They are applied directly to the teeth and are typically less expensive and quicker to apply than porcelain veneers. Composite veneers are an excellent option to cover up various aesthetic problems.

Porcelain veneers are custom-made to fit your teeth and are usually made in a lab. Once ready, they are sent to our office and applied to your teeth. Porcelain veneers generally last longer because of the stronger material used to make them. They provide a more natural look and can fix larger cosmetic issues such as dark stained teeth or teeth incorrectly positioned.

  • How long do dental veneers last?

Our veneers are made from quality materials designed to provide long-lasting results. Typically, veneers last 10-15 years, but with proper dental care, they can last for more than 20 years. If you ever need repairs or replacement of your dental veneers, please contact our office immediately so we can restore your beautiful smile.
